Chilli-pepper In My Eyes

Though my heart’s been broken
And my smile is just a token
I don’t want you feeling guilty
Over the pain you’re causing me;
Please don’t think that I’ll die
Because of a single word – goodbye
I’m not a man who easily cries
It’s just chilli-pepper in my eyes.

Wounds heal … and the pain eases
In time I’ll pick up the pieces
Though the thread of my life has been snapped
Though I tripped the wire and am now trapped;
The floodgates opened when you said you had to go
Eve though, for now, I smile and put on a show
Still my tears fall like rain from the skies
It’s just chilli-pepper in my eyes.

My heart didn’t stand a chance
From the moment we met
Your eyes first glance …
Now you ask me to forget;
Our hearts touched and beat together
Our bodies entwined and melted into each other
I was cast adrift when you cut the ties
You threw chilli-pepper in my eyes.

Spare me a tender thought now and again
When you’re happy – think of me then
Think of me but don’t blame yourself
I swear you haven’t left me on the shelf;
You’re all I had, your memory is all I’ve got
It’s not – No! No! It’s not that, it’s not
My broken heart releasing pain through my eyes
It’s just chilli-pepper in my eyes.

The floodgates opened when you said you had to go
Even though, for now, I smile and put on a show
Still my tears fall like rain from the skies
It’s just chilli-pepper in my eyes;
Please don’t think that I’ll die
Because of a single word – goodbye
I’m not a man who easily cries
It’s just chilli-pepper in my eyes.
